What You Actually Need to Start Selling Digital Products (Without Overwhelm)

I know why you’re here.

You’ve probably thought about selling printables or digital products for a while now… but every time you look into it, it feels like a lot.

Websites, payments, marketing, Pinterest, emails—it can start to feel like a whole business before you’ve even made your first product.

And the truth is… it can be a tough business to get into if you’re trying to do everything all at once.

But it doesn’t have to be that complicated.

In this post, I’m going to break down what you actually need to get started (and what you can ignore for now), so you can stop overthinking and just begin.

Section 1: What You’re Really Doing Here

Before anything else, let’s simplify this.

Selling digital products is really just this:

  • You create something helpful (like a printable or template)
  • You put it somewhere people can buy it
  • You help people find it

That’s it.

You don’t need a huge brand.
You don’t need a million followers.
You just need a simple setup that works.

Section 2: What You ACTUALLY Need to Get Started

Let’s strip this all the way down:

1. A Simple Product

Start with ONE thing.

Ideas:

  • printable planner
  • checklist
  • budget sheet
  • decor guide

Don’t try to make a whole shop yet—just one useful product.

2. A Place to Sell It

You need somewhere people can actually buy and download your product.

The easiest way to do this long-term is using your own website with something like WooCommerce and connecting payments through Stripe.

This lets you:

  • upload your product
  • accept payments
  • automatically deliver the file

👉 No manual work every time someone buys

(And don’t worry—you don’t need to have this perfectly set up on day one!) The point is to get started!

3. A Way to Get Traffic

This is the part most people get stuck on.

You can have the best product in the world… but if no one sees it, it won’t sell.

Which is why you need a platform that actually brings people to your content.

Section 3: What You DON’T Need Right Now

This is where a lot of people get overwhelmed.

You do NOT need:

  • a full website with 20 pages
  • a logo and branding done perfectly
  • an email funnel right away
  • 10 different products

Starting simple is what gets you results faster.

Section 4: Real Talk (this is your voice)

Most people don’t fail at this because they can’t do it.

They get stuck because they try to build everything at once instead of starting small and learning as they go.

You’re allowed to figure this out step-by-step.

Section 5: Why Pinterest is One of the Best Places to Start

If you’re wondering how to actually get people to see your digital products…

This is where Pinterest comes in.

Pinterest isn’t like other platforms—it’s a search engine.

People go on there already looking for:

  • ideas
  • solutions
  • things to buy

Which means your content can show up when people are already searching for what you’re offering.

Instead of chasing people, your content works for you over time.

And that’s what makes it such a powerful place to start—especially if you’re a beginner.

If you’ve been overthinking this, take this as your sign to simplify.

Start with:

  • one product
  • one simple setup
  • and one way to get traffic

You don’t need everything figured out—you just need to start. Most people don’t even get this far, they purchase a digital course or product to sell and never look at it!

I’ll be sharing more about how I’m setting this up (and what’s actually working), so you can follow along and build this step-by-step too. My email is below if you would like more information.
